How We Can Help You

Founded by Dr Laura Bennett, Oasis Psychology,  in Wimborne, Dorset, is a specialist service to support professionals working with children and young people with attachment needs and developmental trauma.

Oasis Psychology comprises a team of multi-disciplinary professionals who are all DDP level 2 qualified and have extensive experience of working with this client group.

We understand that children who have experienced trauma may not have received the start in life that they deserve and that this will have affected their ability to form relationships with others. We work to help children work through their trauma through building secure connections and relationships with the people caring for them.

We believe that supporting children with attachment needs and developmental trauma requires a systemic approach and therefore, as well as offering direct therapy, we specialise in providing a range of services,  including assessment, consultation, supervision and training, to support carers and professionals to provide the best therapeutic care that they can.

Support for Professionals

Oasis Psychology specialises in supporting professionals who work with children in care or on the edge of care through supervision, reflective practice, consultation and training.

We believe that placement stability and attachment security are essential for children's well-being and happiness and hold these as central to any of the work that we are doing.

Having a space to think through the complexities of working with families and the systems around them can allow for decisions to be made more mindfully and allow huge progress in securing stability for children.

I was initially nervous about our Reflective Practice sessions but Laura made me feel really comfortable and always had the time to listen to us individually and was very intune with how we felt. She is truly amazing at what she does.

Director & Lead Practitioner, Green Sparks

July 2025

Oasis Psychology provide me with regular, thoughtful and reflective clinical supervision for my work with vulnerable children. Supervision helps me to reflect and take a more strategic approach to understanding and responding to the children's verbal and non-verbal communication. I also get help to figure out how best to collaborate with the other professionals involved in children's lives and to make sense of the different systems in play. Most importantly for me, I always leave supervision feeling like my supervisor has taken care of me, helped me unload anything that is troubling me and believes in me when I run out of energy to believe in myself and what I am doing. This service is the most valuable thing I access both for my own welfare and self development and for the development of the business as a whole.

A Safe Therapeutic Space

The team at Oasis Psychology understand the importance of providing a safe, consistent space for therapeutic support. Our therapy rooms, located in the village of Colehill, nr Wimborne, Dorset provide a comfortable space for professionals, parents and carers and children to meet their therapists and work through their concerns.

As well as therapy space, the rooms in a converted residential property allow access to safe off road parking, a kitchen for baking, a garden for times when energy needs to be released and a lounge large enough for training or group sessions.

We also provide good quality tea and coffee for professionals in need of refreshment and a steady supply of drinks and snacks, for those children who live with the past trauma of not having been fed.
